This was a historic step in Dentons' vision of being more than a law firm for its clients , reaffirming its commitment to comprehensive and coordinated advice, offering integrated legal and advisory solutions for organizations around the world.

Disembarkation in Spain
The development of Dentons in Spain is marked by the managing partners who have promoted its launch as an international firm. It was originally set up in 2007 with the French firm Email Data Salans , which absorbed the Masons Buxeda Menchen law firms and the Alonso, Armand, Boedels y Asociados boutique. The Dentons name was adopted later, in 2013, as a result of the three-way merger between the international firm Salans LLP, the Canadian firm Fraser Milner Casgrain (FMC) and the Anglo-Saxon firm SNR Denton.

The merger was carried out through a swiss verein (a decentralized corporate structure with members with their own legal personality), similar to the one that the Spanish firm ECIJA has implemented in recent years under the name Dentons.

Curiously, its five founding partners José María Buxeda , Alejandro Alonso , Javier Lasa and Lourdes Pérez-Luque in Madrid and Juan Ignacio Alonso in Barcelona no longer belong to Dentons



Javier Lasa was at the firm between 2007 and 2009 and is now an energy expert partner at Estudio Menchén. For his part, José María Buxeda was the first managing partner from 2009 to 2019. There, after his time at Diggia Group, he ended up at Toda Nel-lo as an M & A partner a couple of years ago.

During Buxeda's tenure, the firm incorporated relevant professionals from other brands, such as Javier Badiola and Luis Belart from Clifford Chance, for the financial and banking area; Jesús Mardomingo , head of the banking area at Cuatrecasas, joined that same area as head of the practice.
